Technical Buyer

MGI Engineering Ltd is looking for a Technical Buyer to join our highly skilled team to deliver cutting-edge solutions in the aerospace, automotive, motorsport and UAV sectors. MGI Engineering is accelerating the creation of technologies towards a net carbon zero future.

Founded in 2003, MGI Engineering has a 25+ permanent full-time engineering staff based in Witney, Oxfordshire, delivering innovative technology solutions to wider mainstream and newly developing industry sectors. The technical team leverages its extensive experience in the F1 industry to deliver customised, highly innovative solutions to meet our client’s specific requirements within different sectors. Our DNA is rooted in extensive, fast-paced R&D development, on-time and within-budget delivery, and reliance on a trusted international network of partners and specialist. We believe in sustainability, mobility, and reusable energy technology across all our supported sectors.

 

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director and working within the Business Support Team, this position will involve:

  • Contributing to procurement strategies to deliver value for MGI Engineering Ltd.
  • Market assessments & identification of potential new suppliers.
  • Negotiating deals to meet our performance objectives.
  • Manage day to day tasks within our ERP system.
  • Supplier Management: main contact for the suppliers, managing performance to secure on time cost and quality products/services.
  • Quality Management System: delegated responsibility for compliance with AS9100D, manage compliance throughout the company, maintain QMS processes.
  • Support business compliance with aviation certification.
  • Provide technical/commercial assistance to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge to others.

 

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • At least 3 years of experience working as a buyer in a relevant industry.
  • Understand technical drawings to enable buying and procurement.
  • Understand Contract Account Management and client-supplier management.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication practices.
  • Be proficient with standard MS Office software and MS project (or equivalent).
  • Have good planning/project management skills.
  • Manage portfolio of projects, drive deliveries, develop strategies, performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Coordinate communications between technical team, management, and commercial.
  • Be a team player with a can-do attitude who can work in a range of teams.
  • Willingness to learn and be part of a fast paced, diverse team.

 

The following are desired but not essential:

  • Education with a degree (or equivalent) in the field of mechanical, electrical, or environmental Engineering or Business-related.
  • Experience in the aerospace, automotive or motorsport industry.
  • Strong contract management skills.
  • Experience with negotiation on pricing and contracting terms and conditions.
  • Global outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures, and ways of working.
