MGI joins industry-leading organisation Vertical Flight Society

January 31, 2023

MGI Engineering is pleased to announce its recent membership to the Vertical Flight Society (VFS), the world’s leading non-profit organisation working to advance vertical flight.

MGI Engineering joined VFS on 16th of December 2022, one of 46 new members to join last year, as part of its ever-expanding membership base. As of 1st January 2023, VFS boasts a total of 183 companies, with nearly 6,400 individual members. For over 80 years, VFS has been the world’s largest technical community of engineers, technologists, and specialists developing vertical flight aircraft. VFS provides professionals in the ever-expanding vertical flight industry to increase their knowledge and exchange ideas.

VFS has been at the forefront of what it calls the “Electric VTOL Revolution” since 2014 when it held the world’s first meeting of the eVTOL development community. VFS was founded as the American Helicopter Society in 1943 by the pioneers of the early helicopter industry, who believed that technological cooperation and collaboration were essential to support this new type of aircraft. Today, the Society has catalogued over 760 different electric VTOL concepts from more than 350 companies and innovators in its World eVTOL Aircraft Directory.

With the Vertical Flight Society’s knowledge base, education, and networking opportunities within the eVTOL industry, MGI can continue to reach new heights. In tandem with VFS’s objectives, MGI is consistently working towards reversing public perception and scepticism about eVTOL aircraft by pushing the boundaries and limits of our engineering capabilities to solve challenges and grow our technical progress.

Commercial Director Cris Hiche said, “With eVTOL aircraft now being recognised for its potential and its impending expansion into viable markets in the near future, it means that MGI can pursue feasible steps towards providing a solution that satisfies and meets the upcoming market demand.”

CEO Mike Gascoyne stated, “It has always been a personal ambition of mine to be a part of Vertical Flight Society as part of my vision and direction for MGI Engineering. It’s an exciting time for the vertical flight industry, and we are extremely proud to be a part of it. Not only is it an opportunity to contribute, but it is also a chance to work towards ambitious, yet attainable goals. Being a member of Vertical Flight Society allows us to achieve the vision we have for MGI Engineering, and for the industry as a whole.”
