MGI Engineering is continuing its support for the next generation of engineers by funding the ACCEL Programme at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, for the third consecutive year.
The ACCEL Programme, the Academy for Churchill College Enterprise and Leadership, gives engineering and STEM students the opportunity to develop leadership, creativity and entrepreneurial skills alongside their academic studies.
Through workshops, mentorship and practical project development, students gain valuable experience that prepares them for careers in engineering, technology and innovation.
A key element of the programme is the opportunity for students to pitch and develop their own ideas. With support from partners such as MGI Engineering, participants can explore concepts beyond their degree requirements, including design, research, community and innovation projects. These initiatives allow students to turn ideas into practical outcomes while building skills in teamwork, communication and problem solving.
Mike Gascoyne, CEO of MGI Engineering, said: “Engineering thrives on curiosity, creativity and the confidence to explore new ideas. By helping students develop and pursue their own projects beyond the classroom, we are supporting the next generation of engineers who will go on to shape the future of technology and innovation.”
The continued funding demonstrates MGI Engineering’s commitment to supporting innovation and investing in future talent. By backing the programme, the company helps create opportunities for students to experiment with new ideas, develop practical skills and gain the confidence to bring concepts to life.
The ACCEL Programme complements the strong technical foundation of a Cambridge degree by offering hands-on leadership and professional development experiences. Students take part in workshops focused on leadership, collaboration, networking and innovation before applying these skills through projects that have the potential to create real-world impact.
Industry partnerships play an essential role in making these opportunities possible. Support from organisations like MGI Engineering enables the programme to fund student-led initiatives and provide the resources needed to turn ambitious ideas into reality.
The collaboration between MGI Engineering and the ACCEL Programme reflects a shared goal of empowering talented students to push the boundaries of engineering and innovation while developing the skills needed to address future challenges.
