Lotus Racing

In 2009, after Mike and MGI had setup the new Lotus Racing Team and designed its 2010 car,  Mike Gascoyne joined the newly formed Lotus Racing team as Chief Technical Officer. His extensive experience in F1 was instrumental in establishing the team’s technical foundation. Under his leadership, Lotus Racing made significant strides, developing competitive cars and gaining a foothold in the highly competitive F1 landscape. Gascoyne’s strategic vision and engineering acumen were key to the team’s early successes and growth.

Caterham F1

The transition from Lotus Racing to Caterham F1 began in 2011 which led to a rebranding effort, with the team officially becoming Caterham F1 in 2012. Gascoyne continued to play a pivotal role during this transition, ensuring a smooth shift while maintaining the team’s competitive edge. The move to the Leafield Technical Centre in Oxfordshire marked a new chapter, with the Caterham CT01 being the first car developed under the new name. Despite facing challenges, Gascoyne’s leadership helped the team navigate the complexities of F1, laying the groundwork for future endeavours.
