Timeline
Mike Gascoyne founded MGI Motorsport Ltd (now MGI Engineering Ltd)
MGI is among the few independent companies outside Formula 1 to have launched an F1 team from scratch. We initially competed as Lotus F1 Racing, which later turned into the Caterham F1 Team
MGI supported the incorporation of the Caterham F1 Team into the Caterham Group encompassing motorsport projects in F1, GP2 and Le Mans as well as a composites and automotive consultancy and road car development
MGI supported the Caterham Group’s first entry into the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 class in collaboration with Greaves Motorsport
MGI finds its permanent home in Oxfordshire, a strategic position at the heart of multiple advanced technology sectors, bringing F1 technology and innovation into the mainstream engineering consultancy sector
MGI becomes part of the Vertical Group and changes its name to Vertical Advanced Engineering. We expand to 25 full-time engineers, fully-focused on lightweight design solutions for the eVTOL sector based on F1 engineering expertise
In November 2021, the company once again becomes fully independent, utilising its expert staff to provide on-time specialised engineering services. MGI is delivering cutting-edge technology solutions based on 30 years of F1 engineering experience and over four years in the emerging, competitive eVTOL sector
MGI Engineering launches its own innovative range of cargo rotor only and wing-based UAVs for the eVTOL cargo market
Quality Management Systems
MGI Engineering Ltd have held EN 9100:2018 certification since 2018
You may have heard of ISO 9001, EN 9100 or even AS 9100, but what do these extra letters mean? When an international standard is adopted at a regional level, it obtains a prefix to associate it with that region. So, if an ISO is adopted by the European Union (EN), it becomes ISO-EN, therefore ISO 9001:2015 would become EN-ISO 9001:2015. The actual standards stay the same although global differences in areas such as construction or manufacturing allow the EU for example, to make minor changes to the standard in order to meet their own regional safety regulations.
What is AS9100D?
This Aerospace Standard (AS) takes all the foundation quality requirements of ISO 9001 and bolts on additional requirements that meet the needs of the aerospace industry. The benefits of being an ISO/EN certified company are increased customer satisfaction, reduced operating costs, improved risk management, improved stakeholder relationships, legal compliance and proven business credentials. We are assessed annually by an independent registrar, BSI (British Standards Institute), to ensure we comply to (1) requirements of standard(s) and (2) to what we say we do in our procedures.
Scope
Design of components and tooling for vehicle and general engineering applications.
