MGI Engineering Unveils SeaGlide: A Groundbreaking Autonomous Foiling USV for a Net Zero Logistics Ecosystem
MGI Engineering, a leader in high-performance engineering solutions, proudly announces the launch of SeaGlide, a range of autonomous foiling Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs) designed to redefine sustainable maritime transportation. SeaGlide marks a pivotal advancement in zero carbon shipping technology, reinforcing MGI Engineering’s commitment to spearheading an eco-friendly and autonomous cargo delivery ecosystem.
SeaGlide’s state-of-the-art design leverages MGI Engineering’s extensive background and expertise in Formula 1, delivering ultra-lightweight, high-performance vehicles. By incorporating advanced composite materials and engineering innovations, MGI Engineering has created a highly efficient vehicle that dramatically reduces carbon emissions. Equipped with hydrofoil technology, SeaGlide minimises drag, allowing it to travel across open seas and inland waterways with exceptional energy efficiency and speed, whilst maintaining a minimal environmental footprint.
With a payload capacity of up to 200kg and long-range capabilities of up to 500km, SeaGlide is engineered to bring cost reducing autonomy to demanding maritime logistics applications where superior performance and sustainability standards matter. SeaGlide is also compatible with the MGI range of Mosquito Uncrewed Air Vehicles (UAVs), enabling the seamless delivery of cargos across sea, land and air.
Mike Gascoyne, Owner and CEO of MGI Engineering, said: “The debut of SeaGlide represents a transformative step in maritime logistics. Our foundations in Formula 1 engineering have enabled us to develop ground-breaking solutions that meet the challenges of maritime logistics combined with sustainability. SeaGlide exemplifies our leadership in the green logistics ecosystem and our drive to deliver intelligent, zero-emission transport solutions.”
After extensive inland and off-shore vehicle and system testing MGI Engineering is progressing to pilot programmes with strategic partners as part of the certification process for SeaGlide. This initiative will ensure the highest standards of safety, reliability and performance before full-scale deployment.
SeaGlide’s autonomous capabilities offer enhanced operational efficiency and adaptability. It features advanced anti-collision avoidance systems, enabling safe navigation in complex maritime environments by detecting and manoeuvring around obstacles autonomously. SeaGlide can optimise routes, respond to weather conditions, and operate continuously without human intervention, significantly reducing costs and improving safety. This next-generation technology positions SeaGlide as a critical component in the future of faster, cleaner and autonomous maritime logistics.
